Situated in the district of Shajapur, at a distance of 70 kms. from Indore on national highway No. 3, Maksi has been earmarked as a backward area and hence industrialization efforts of the Government are more here. It is spread in an area of approx. 90 hectare.

Maksi industrial center is situated at a distance of 35 kms. from Shajapur and 70 kms. from Indore. It is connected to major cities through broad gauge rail lines. The number of units involved in production are LMI(4) and SSI(19) while 1 LMIs and 4 SSIs are under implementation process.

Ramco Industries Limited, Tri-star Soya products etc. are some of the major industries which are functioning here. Burman Labs( A Dabur group company) is also one of the most prominent industry of the center. Other major industries here includes AC pressure pipe manufactures, cement sheet, chemical, soyabean oil.

Maksi is considered one of the largest markets for grain and agricultural productions of MP. A large segment of residents here are grain traders & merchants. The socio-economic scenario and the civic culture reflects the same.
